Get Involved! SMCD Strategic Planning 2015

In April 2015, the leadership of the Shambhala Meditation Center of Denver (SMCD) along with the professional consultation of Joe Pollara and Kendra Sandoval, launched the process of creating a 3-5 year strategic plan.  To put it simply, it is time for SMCD to envision our next era.  Shambhala vision is about looking forward with confidence.  Although that is not synonymous with strategic planning, it is part of how we can engage with this process.  Organizationally, a lot was accomplished during the Vision to Action in 2011/12, but now is the time to shape our future together as a community and organization in the next 3-5 years.  This plan will plant seeds that will bear fruit dependent on how much care and effort we put in now.

A Community Initiative That’s Shaping Our Future

The members of the leadership of SMCD along with the professional consultation of Joe Pollara and Kendra Sandoval, are leading the process and everyone is invited to participate.

We need your input!

Get updates (current documents and upcoming gatherings) and participate in discussion at our Shambhala Network Group – SMCD Strategic Planning.  Our goal is to have a final Strategic Plan document in hand to present to the community by Fall/Winter 2015.  Please attend gatherings over the summer as they will be a powerful way to learn about the details of the planning and participate fully.

Attend a 2 hour session for an introduction to the SMCD Strategic Plan, engaging conversation and opportunity to participate in the SMCD Strategic Plan. Please attend more if you’re inspired, but it’s not required. And please REGISTER. All are located at SMCD unless otherwise noted.

Ways to engage as an Action Team Member –
1. Attend and offer input during Strategic Planning gatherings in June, July and possibly August – listed on SMCD’s programs page.

2. Become a member of a Action Team! (the group that engages with a single objective)
– Action Team Chair – oversees the planning and execution of that particular objective with the help of an LC Sponsor, both facilitators, and luminaries/advisors (i.e. Developing Satellite Centers)
– Action Team Members – participates in meetings and collaborates with other member

Ultimately the quesiton comes down to, what is our impact?
How can we manifest a kinder society? As the Sakyong has clarified in The Shambhala Principle, “Creating an enlightened culture based on the direct display of basic goodness has the power to shift the world’s future.”

Naturally, our meditation practice is going to be a huge impact in every aspect of our lives, especially at SMCD. If we continue to create a healthy and nurturing environment for our community, we’ll have more opportunities to engage with the wider Denver community. Then our impact could be one where people are just kind to each other because that’s what everyone else is doing.
