A one day workshop that is suitable for those who want to begin a meditation practice with in-depth instruction, as well as those who just want to refresh their practice and view. There will be an explanation of why precision is important, discovering the best posture for you, and mindfulness and contemplation practice. Lots of opportunity for questions, discussion and community. We will draw from Turning the Mind into an Ally, the best-selling book by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.

Light continental breakfast will be offered at 8:30 AM and the program starts at 9:00. We also encourage you to bring your own lunch, so we may eat together as a community. There is also the option of nearby restaurants.

When you register, your confirmation email will include a brief survey. It will include all the details about the optional purchase of the book.

Shambhala Meditation Center of Denver welcomes people of all religious traditions as well as those who do not follow a particular spiritual path. This workshop is recommended for new meditators, as well as for those looking to enrich their existing spiritual tradition.

STAFFING: If you are interested in staffing this program, please sign up here. Completion of Shambhala Training Level III is a prerequisite to staff.

Martha began Shambhala studies in 1994. In addition to the Sakyong as her teacher, she also a became a formal student to Pema Chödrön in 1999. Ani Pema directed Martha to work within the community on addiction issues, as that had been her field to work before retirement. Martha has facilitated the Heart of Recovery group in Denver for years. She completed Shambhala teacher training in 2002 and has directed Shambhala Training levels in Denver, Tucson and Phoenix.

Our Generosity Policy: We have a generosity policy to make our offerings available to all who wish to participate. If the program price is an obstacle for you, please consider what works for you, and offer as much of the program fee as you can.

To arrange for this, please contact us in advance of this Program at: [email protected].

For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a “Patron Price.” Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.
