MEDITATION

The Shambhala Meditation Center of Denver hosts a group meditation practice session at 10 a.m. every Sunday. A meditation instructor is available to provide first time meditation instruction for those interested, along with information about our community.

SHAMBHALA TRAINING

Shambhala Training consists of a series of contemplative workshops suitable for both beginning and experienced meditators. According to legend, the Kingdom of Shambhala was said to be an enlightened society based on gentle and fearless action, along with the wisdom and compassion of the Buddhist tradition of meditation. The Shambhala teachings reflect the idea that the awake or enlightened mind discovered in individual spiritual practice can be extended to all areas of human society.

CONTEMPLATIVE ARTS

These secular disciplines and activities that integrate art and culture with everyday life can represent a genuine contemplative path. They can also bring beauty and wisdom to our lives. Some examples include Ikebana (flower arranging), Miksang (photography) and brush calligraphy.

MEMBERSHIP

Although you do not have to be a member to enjoy meditation practice at the center, or to enroll in classes and programs, SMCD depends on memberships and contributions to keep its doors open. The benefits of membership include discounts on class and program fees, the opportunity to check out books and tapes from our library, additional training opportunities, and membership in Shambhala International and The Shambhala Network social network.

Members are asked to contribute $50 a month for an individual and $75 for a couple or family, but if your resources are limited, arrangements can be made for a lower rate. To become a member, call SMCD at 303-369-2807. During scheduled meditation and programs, the host or another staff member will answer your call. At other times, leave a message, and your call will be returned.
