A one day workshop that is suitable for those who want to begin a practice with in-depth instruction, as well as those who just want to refresh their practice and view. There will be an explanation of why precision is important, discovering the best posture for you, and mindfulness and contemplation practice. Lots of opportunity for questions, discussion and practice. We will draw from Turning the Mind into an Ally, the best-selling book by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.

Registration starts at 9:00 AM and the program begins at 9:30. Although lunch is on your own, we warmly invite you to bring your food so we may eat together as a community. Nearby restaurants are also an option.

Recommended Reading: Turning the Mind into an Ally by Sakyong Mipham. The text is optional and available through our bookstore for $12, if you pre-order.

When you register, your confirmation email will include a brief survey that we ask you to complete by Thursday, October 26th.

Shambhala Meditation Center of Denver welcomes people of all religious traditions as well as those who do not follow a particular spiritual path. This workshop is recommended for new meditators, as well as for those looking to enrich their existing spiritual tradition.

Patricia was introduced to meditation in 1986 by an Episcopal priest, who was also a zen practitioner. This, along with reading Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind, influenced her to attend Naropa University, where she received her masters in Contemplative Psychotherapy. In 1995, she met Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and became his student within the Shambhala tradition.  She lives in Louisville, Colorado where she has a private psychotherapy practice specializing in treating trauma.

Our Generosity Policy: We have a generosity policy to make our offerings available to all who wish to participate. If the program price is an obstacle for you, please consider what works for you, and offer as much of the program fee as you can.

To arrange for this, please contact us in advance of this Program at: [email protected].

For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a “Patron Price.” Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.
