Milarepa Day 2019

with David Cushman

February 17th

Date details +
    Room: Main Shrine Room
    Program Registration is Closed.

From humble beginnings, Milarepa ultimately became Tibet Buddhism's greatest saint in the Kagyü Lineage. Under the guidance of his teacher Marpa, he set out to seek spiritual enlightenment to purify his tremendously bad karma. Eventually, his wisdom attracted many disciples and he became a great teacher and poet. The Rain of Wisdom includes many of his poems of realization, called dohas.

These dohas are songs of realization of Shambhala's Kagyü lineage holders, sharing their experiences of their human lives, their path and their practice. In chanting them, we attune our minds to theirs, invoking the inspiration of their sanity and devotion.

David Cushman is a long time practitioner in Shambhala and has organized many Milarepa Days up at Shambhala Mountain Center when he was the Practice & Education Director.  He will be our lead umdze.  If you are a Shambhala tantrika and interested in reading a portion of the Rain of Blessings, please sign up here.  If you have a copy of The Rain of Wisdom, please bring it.

This is a community practice day, and all are welcome! We will break for lunch from 12pm-12:45pm, and please feel free to drop in when convenient.

Suggested donation of $20 is gratefully accepted.
